What we collect, and what we do with it.

Last updated: September 2, 2026.

Tanjent Partners, LLC runs this site. This page describes what personal data we collect, why we are allowed to hold it, who else touches it, and how to make us delete it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.

What we collect

If you complete The Short View. The assessment asks thirteen questions about your firm. If you ask for your breakdown, we store the email address you enter, your answers, the score and band they produce, the multiple range you were shown, any flags the instrument raised, the date you completed it, and the IP address the submission came from. The IP is kept because it is part of the record of where and how you gave us permission – not to identify or locate you.

The newsletter is somewhere else entirely. In Practice. runs on beehiiv, and beehiiv is the only place to subscribe to it or unsubscribe from it. This site cannot do either and never asks you to. When you submit the assessment we do ask beehiiv one question about the address you entered – whether it is already subscribed – and we record the answer, so that a note from us doesn’t repeat something you have already read. We never add anyone to that list, and we never remove anyone from it.

If you email us. Whatever you put in the email.

We do not buy contact data, and we do not collect anything about you from anywhere other than you.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Your breakdown rests on legitimate interest: you asked for a document, and we cannot deliver it without an address to send it to. That basis covers the delivery and nothing further.

There is nothing else to consent to here. This site runs no marketing list and no announcement list, so it collects no marketing consent – there is no box, because there is nothing behind one. If that ever changes, it changes on this page first.

Who else sees it

We are a one-person firm using ordinary tools. Each of these processes your data on our behalf, under its own terms:

  • HubSpot – our CRM, and what sends your breakdown
  • beehiiv – publishes In Practice., holds its subscriber list, and answers the one status question above
  • n8n – carries your submission from this page to HubSpot
  • Vercel – hosts this site
  • Google Workspace – our email, and where a copy of the submission log lives

These providers are based in the United States, so your data is stored there. Nobody else receives it. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers, and there is no arrangement under which we would.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. There is no analytics pixel, no advertising tag, and no cross-site tracking. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight: the attribution data would have been mildly interesting, and the surveillance apparatus required to collect it was not worth installing on you.

How long we keep it

We keep your contact record and your assessment answers until you ask us to delete them. The answers are retained because the instrument will change over time, and keeping the raw responses is the only way to re-score an earlier one honestly rather than guessing. If you tell us to stop emailing you, we keep the minimum record needed to remember the instruction – removing it entirely would mean losing the instruction not to email you. Leaving In Practice. is done at beehiiv, and that record is beehiiv’s to keep.

What you can ask us to do

Whoever and wherever you are, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, send you a copy in a portable form, or stop processing it. Depending on where you live you may have these rights by law; we extend them to everyone because operating two standards is more work than operating one.

Email tim@tanjentpartners.com and say what you want. We will do it, and we will confirm when it is done. No form, no account, no verification theatre.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. If a change affects what we do with data you have already given us, we will email you rather than rely on you noticing.
